On a witch hunt again with my pupils dilated
On a ship made for sinking,
On a man hunt again with my ego in tow,
And these drinks were made for drinking,
If you don't count the last time or the very last time, I’m still down for anything,
But there’s a me you don’t see, when you’re pointing your finger,
Two facedown and blinking,
Took the quick route straight to East Berlin,
Vial in my pocket and a war I couldn’t win,
Spilled my guts in two ways later on,
Forget what I said, forget what I did, carry on,
Put two and two together and came back with five,
On a barstool made for stalling,
I counted up my change and I came back to life,
In a fool’s house made for falling,
If you don’t count today, tomorrow or tonight,
I’m still set on quitting,
Don’t need this stale piss, don’t need these marlboro lights,
I don’t need your rolling,
Took the quick route straight from Waterloo,
Running through my system was panic and a thought of you,
Took me three days just to find my feet,
Forget what I said, forget what I did, don't repeat,
One day at a time, one axe left to grind, A memory fading in the wind,
I’m anxiously trying, to keep in the lines, But I can’t face this maze we're in

People ain’t toys, you nasty boys and girls,
Can’t just recharge their batteries and hope that they trust,
People ain’t cars, who’d you think you are,
Can’t take their wheels away and then leave them to rust,
People aren’t gods, be careful who you love,
They might lead you through the desert, nailed to a cross,
People don’t care, if you’re self aware,
All that matters in the end, is what you have done,
And it’s time I was leaving...it’s time I was leaving here,
Gotta dig down, don’t throw in the towel,
Do the right thing they said, and find out who you are,
Except I cause more damage than,
You and yours and mine and hers and hers and mine could ever define,
Now that I’m stumbling side to side,
Watching my heroes die one by one as I decline,
Gotta break out, run away somehow,
Take the wide road faster now into the sunset,
And it’s time I was leaving...
it’s time I was leaving here,
Broken bones, set the tone, Broken hearts, are just a piece of your life’s art,
Broken promises don’t justify your policy, Of never letting people in
