I found out at seventeen,
Nothing gold is evergreen
But I'll keep holding out for something new
I found peace in chemicals
Flowing out of thin brown bottles
Inhaled from plastic, wraps and metal tubes
The black holes of my memories
Fill right up with catastrophes
Outright lies and bitter, naked truths
I write sixth form poetry
For people who won't ever love me
Sealed up friendships laid in wooden booths
Waste your time until you die
Train tracks, airports, hospitals
Borderlining criminal
Negligence and bending of the truth
Dated, selfish attitudes,
Gravitate catch 22s
And I'll keep blaming everyone I knew
For lack of focus, sunken eyes
Until the day I realise
That the only cure for hurt is letting go
Of out of focus, sunken lives
Futures not quite realised
And letting all that pain fade with the flow
Waste your time until you die
And all I know is that I'm walking like a ghost.
How was I to know that the trail was going cold
And the lines on the road 4 countries from home
Would make me feel like a hero?
